Hmm so what should this page really be about?!
Technology - perhaps most importantly the kind I like and play with; perhaps I should start writing reviews about new cool stuff I play around with; new phones, computers or gadgets in general. Perhaps if I start getting followers I would be at the front line of new releases Yay! -no I am not a fan of IPHONE –but I do think they have something going there; good design, ease of use, and a business plan of splendor (those guys know how to make them bucks I tell you!) But then again the release of Iphone 4s did not go well down by the Apple die-hards I guess, leaving them all teary and still wet-dreaming about the coming of 5. I am not really anti-Apple, merely a beliver in open source and non-proprietary software.
Update: RIP Steve Jobs -undoubtedly one of the finest business minds ever – a true entrepreneur!
Maybe I should write stories about rooting/hacking and upgrading my android phone (thinking...) or even tell you all about my experiences adapting to Windows 8 -or basic stuff to make desktop transition to Linux more easy (because it actually can make you go crazy sometimes with driver issues and other issues that seems so easy in a windows distro (no pun intended) :) )
My latest endeavor is re-learning C++ that could certainly be a chapter or at least half a page -either way.. Or perhaps why I decided to re-educate myself on my new-found interest in algorithms and programming used for different kinds of high speed/ high frequency trades on stock exchanges around the world. Sometimes as "pure" transaction execution solutions, for safety & hedge strategies, to the more exotic (self-powered) "anatomic" software/robots that sometimes trade in the "grey" area of the current laws of market participants due to their designers/owners purpose and means of beating the market -quite an invigorating topic should you ask me. But then again, nobody really asked, so perhaps I am barking up the wrong tree here and the time has come to finally put this page down on a permanent basis. Who needs bloggers anyways…
Or perhaps should I dissect the financial markets like a Bloomberg journalist and tell people to buy and sell certain stocks because of their misinterpreted price in the current market? Then again, I would probably be blamed for manipulating the markets should I trust -and buy the same stocks I was writing about -at least if I was rational enough to sell when the market price reached a level of equilibrium or even higher and forgot to write about that first- hmm back to the above mentioned part about electronic trading and their inherent need of being ultra-transparent in their specific purpose.
The newfound interest was conceived at the Oslo Stock Exchange some weeks ago during a conference about the topic of such robots and it was really quite a brain jump-starter. How do you determine the machine from acting within reason or better yet without manipulating markets? They definitely highlighted some interesting scenarios. Thus far the numbers of cases against such robotic trades have been more or less non-existent, but quite the story then that in Norway someone was actually found guilty in something like the opposite?! This was the case where two day traders were found guilty in manipulating such a “robot” by trading with and beating it by finding its weak spot, namely figuring out how the robot worked and then challenging it to a battle –obviously the courts deemed the traders to have profited not only on trades due to market fluctuations, but also due to fluctuations they made themselves when trading with the robot –therefore manipulation verdict. These transactions happened back in 2008 and their verdict handed down 12months ago; suspended sentence, but last week they were back to court after an appeal.
Echo; Not sure what I will dedicate my page to yet, but I will sleep on it and perhaps I will start from scratch again tomorrow.
-This is G signing off –Good night!
